CNY Brain & Spine is proud to offer the Intracept™ Procedure, an advanced, minimally invasive treatment for certain types of chronic low back pain, performed by Dr. Nicholas Qandah.

Intracept is designed specifically for vertebrogenic pain, a type of low back pain that originates from damaged or inflamed vertebral endplates. These endplates are located between the discs and the bones of the spine.
Patients with vertebrogenic pain often describe pain in the center of the lower back that becomes worse with prolonged sitting, physical activity, bending forward, bending or lifting.
The Intracept Procedure targets the basivertebral nerve, or BVN, using radiofrequency energy to stop it from transmitting pain signals. Through a small incision, Dr. Qandah uses specialized instruments and image guidance to reach the basivertebral nerve and precisely treat it.
The procedure generally takes approximately 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the number of vertebral levels being treated.
with no hardware left in the spine
Typically performed as a same-day procedure
Designed to preserve the overall structure of the spine
